As a Sanctions Policy Analyst, you will:
Develop policy options, for consideration by officials to address new and emerging threats to the national security, foreign policy or economy of the United States.
Routinely monitor and evaluate effectiveness of sanctions programs as it relates to the regulatory process, to successfully achieve US foreign policy objectives, assessing impact of potential events or situations on various programs, and recommends to the Assistant Director for Policy modifications to program plans to improve success of regulatory objectives.
Be familiar with and monitor UN, EU, and other multilateral sanctions regimes that may affect domestic unilateral sanction programs.
Identifies other issues relating to regulatory control, such as licensing, compliance, enforcement, targeting, and legal issues, and coordinates with various offices responsible for these issues to resolve problems.
Participate in defining policy options in the development of new sanctions programs.
Monitor legislative activity relating to specific programs to ensure compliance with US policy.
Experience with respect to US economic sanctions or trade embargo programs imposed by the President, US national security, and foreign policy.
Experience working with USG interagency entities.
Experience with policy analysis, development, implementation and evaluation.
Experience with legal or policy aspects of international trade, international investments, or international financial transactions.
Experience with legal or policy analysis and writing, including writing for a professional audience.
Experience with effective oral and written communication of substantive and technical issues
Required Qualifications: 5+ years of related experience
Security Clearance: Top Secret/ SCI Clearance
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, International Relations or JD preferred.
