We are looking to recruit up to 1 new team member to complete our staff team. We support 6 young people aged 16 - 18 who present a variety of complex needs.

Salary: £8-£8.65 (dependent of experience/qualifications)

You must be over 21 years of age to be considered.

Located in Northampton the site is a very large accomodation which can accommodate 7 young people living semi independently.

This home is a lot larger than other Cambian homes and has very good public transport links to and from surrounding areas.

Types of duties can be varied but are all centred on the young person. These can include:

Supporting and empowering the young people in performing daily tasks independently in line with their pathway plan
To maintain written records and accounts in line with company policy
To ensure Risk assessment’s& Missing from care protocols are followed to ensure safety of young people
Supporting young people emotionally to develop confidence and self esteem
To act as a positive role model to young people, to be encouraging, supportive, listening, guiding, clear in communication, honest and open
To be part of a team as appropriate flexible rota system and be involved in the decision-making, planning involved with each support package.
To have good communication and professional understanding of partnership working
To maintain good communication with external agencies e.g. Social Workers, Personal advisors, colleges and local authorities’
To shift plan accordingly and to be able to work alongside others and use your own initiative when lone working
To seek advice from managers if there are concerns about a young person’s safety or welfare.
To attend staff meetings, supervision and training as required.
To attend review/planning/disruption meetings where necessary
Any other reasonable duties as may be required and directed by your manager or senior staff.
To respond to emergencies which may arise in a professional manner and in line with policy and procedure
To source local information around leisure and recreational activities, education and employment
To seek external support and resources depend ending on needs of the young person
To support their housing and benefit needs Post 18 in line with their pathway plan

The day can be very unpredictable and quite easily you could spend the entire afternoon providing 1:1 support managing extremely challenging behavior, the right type of person needs to be flexible, adaptable and able to read situations and help our young people make positive choices.

Shift patterns – what a typical 2 week rota could look like with flexibility to suits the needs of the home covering sickness and annual leave

Week 1

Monday 08.00 – 23:00 + Sleep in

Tuesday – Day off

Wednesday – Day off

Thursday 08.00 – 23:00 + Sleep in

Friday – Day off

Saturday – Day off

Sunday - 08.00 – 23:00 + Sleep in

Week 2

Monday – Day off

Tuesday – Day off

Wednesday - 08.00 – 23:00 + Sleep in

Thursday – Day off

Friday – Day off

Saturday - 08.00 – 23:00 + Sleep in

Sunday – Day off

For this home in particular, each shift would come with a sleep in at the accommodation unless required otherwise.

The hours for a sleep in shift would be 08:00 – 23:00 and then 07:30 – 08:30 the following morning. There is some flexibility of working and our manager knows how important a good work life balance is for her team.

You will be expected to have a level 3 diploma in Health & Social care or committed to passing this once you have completed your probationary period
