Advancement Project is a policy and legal action civil rights organization that develops innovative strategies for achieving universal opportunity and a racially just democracy. With offices in Washington, DC and Los Angeles, CA, we provide community-focused lawyering, policy research, and aggressive media strategies to grassroots organizations fighting to promote racial and social justice. Our efforts are primarily focused in these major areas: Ending the Schoolhouse to Jailhouse Track, Voter Protection, Quality Education, Immigrant Justice, Policing/Mass Incarceration, and Right to Vote.


Advancement Project is currently seeking candidates for legal internships for Spring and Summer 2018 at our national Washington, DC office. Legal Interns will work closely with our staff of civil rights attorneys, organizers, and communication experts in creating and implementing strategies to support identified community-organizing efforts around racial justice issues.


Candidates must be law students or recent law school graduates.
Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to public service.
Some experience in civil rights law, policy advocacy, or community organizing is a plus.
Fluency in Spanish is also a plus.
Eligibility for public interest grants or work-study is not required, though welcome.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Advancement Project seeks a goal-oriented, creative, energetic, and committed Individual to occupy this role in our progressive, multi-racial non-profit environment. This position is based in Advancement Project’s National Office in Washington D.C. and operates under the direct supervision of Intern Coordinators. Travel may be required.
