The Government & Community Relations (GCR) Intern will primarily work with Vulcan’s federal/international team and assist with a variety of projects and initiatives involving local/regional public policies and community outreach. This position will gain exposure to many key issues the team is working on and assist with policy analysis, grassroots organizing and outreach.

Projects and Responsibilities

    Provide policy research and analysis on federal and international public policy issues related to fisheries, ocean science, wildlife conservation, and international and national security.
    Collaborate with GCR team to develop strategies and execute strategic input on the legislative process for the above topics.
    Assist with research and analysis on international countries’ political landscape and capabilities and collaborate to develop strategies for engagement.

Desired Skills and Experience

    Currently enrolled in a graduate program
    Must have a good understanding of government branches, systems, legislative and regulatory processes
    Ability to research, monitor, and analyze proposed legislation and regulations
    Ability to provide in depth research and write clear and concise analyses
    Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, particularly with diverse communities and stakeholders
    Must be able to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team
