Vera is seeking a current college student, current graduate student, or recent college graduate to serve as an intern and providing a wide range of database, research, and administrative support to Vera’s Development Department. In return, Vera will provide an opportunity for the intern to gain experience in and familiarity with areas such as fundraising, donor cultivation, philanthropy, and non-profit administration. The Development Intern will report to the Senior Development Associate and the Senior Grant Writer.
Maintain donor and grant databases and files, including recording donations and tracking donor communications
Generate and send donor acknowledgements
Research individual, foundation, and government donors
Support for fundraising and cultivation mailings
Assist with tracking of workplace giving campaigns
Assist with grant application and report writing and tracking
Support for special events
General department administrative tasks and special projects
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and competencies:
Commitment to Vera’s mission
Interest in a nonprofit career, particularly in development and fundraising
Ability to show initiative, ask questions, and adapt to changing priorities
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new technologies
Limited opportunities for compensation may be available. Applicants are encouraged to seek independent funding through an accredited institution, fellowship grants, or internship programs. Vera will gladly assist in working with the school or program to make arrangements and meet requirements.
