Human Rights First

This intern will provide support to HRF’s efforts to combat Anti-Semitism and Extremism in Europe, including basic research relating to specific countries – Greece, Hungary, Germany, and possibly others in Europe.  The intern will also support our efforts by monitoring congressional action, the press, and international organizations and governments in relation to our goals and recommendations.  The intern will assist with administrative duties as needed.  There will also be opportunities for attending relevant events and writing blogs, drafting fact sheets, and helping with other communications efforts. This program provides an excellent opportunity for the intern to improve his or her research, writing, and proofreading skills.  The intern will gain knowledge of the human rights field, an understanding of Anti-Semitism and Extremism in Europe, and a familiarity with working in a non-profit business environment.

    Draft blog postings and fact sheets regarding Anti-Semitism and Extremism related events;
    Attend outside hearings as requested to provide the team updates from those hearings;
    Monitor Congressional and governmental action relating to combatting Anti-Semitism and Extremism, including relevant aspects of US policy on Europe;
    Monitor news and brief internally on pressing developments;
    Administrative duties related to our campaign; and,
    Other duties as needed.


    Fluency in English, both written and spoken;
    Excellent skills in proofreading and writing;
    Working understanding of what Anti-Semitism and Extremism are, with a preference for those familiar with the current situation in Europe;
    Experience working in an office setting;
    Experience with research projects; and,
    Knowledge of French, German, Greek, or Hungarian is a plus, but not required.

EDUCATION: BA or graduate Student
START DATE:  September 4, 2019
TIME COMMITMENT:  At least 20 hours/week but flexible as needed. Internship will run until December 6, 2019.
