An ICF is currently seeking Environmental Planning Intern to work in our Irvine, CA office. Interns are considered On-Call (temporary) employment status.

About On-Call Employment with ICF International

Given the seasonal or project-specific nature of our environmental work, ICF often hires environmental professionals as “On-Call” employees. On-Call employees are scheduled for work hours as they become available (we usually schedule work hours a few weeks ahead of time), and each on-call employee is free to accept or refuse the hours assigned to them in a given week. On-Call employees may work concurrent projects outside of their ICF assignment (along as their outside work does not create a conflict of interest with the work they do for ICF).

Job Description

To support our growth, we are seeking an Environmental Planner Intern to contribute to the development of innovative, accurate, timely, and high quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff. Location of position is in Irvine, CA and would work with colleagues throughout the southern California region. Staff Environmental Planners at ICF International have an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge, gain exposure to major projects, build their project management skills, interact with experts and clients in the field, while building content knowledge and consulting skills. Our Southern, CA offices provide environmental planning, transportation, water, and energy-related professional services to public and private clients. Currently, staff in the region work on a variety of projects, including:

  • Environmental impact analysis in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
  • Permitting and environmental compliance in accordance with agency regulations.
  • Strategic communications, impact assessment, natural and cultural resource surveys, air quality modeling, and policy analysis for private entities.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Pursuit of Bachelor's or advanced degree in natural or physical science, public policy, economics, environmental management, or related subjects.
  • General understanding of NEQA and CEQA guidelines
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including experience with developing and maintaining project schedules.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task under strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently with minimal management oversight.
  • Interest in task and project management, and proven experience efficiently organizing project or organization resources.
