New America’s Better Life Lab is seeking a Deputy Director who has a track record of driving policy, practice and culture change around gender equality, the evolution of work, and social policy. This person will manage the Better Life Lab team’s projects, fundraising, and outreach efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the Better Life Lab team and providing support to the Program Director
  • Assist in identifying, cultivating and stewarding donors for program sustainability
  • Providing strategy and support to Better Life Lab projects with research, policy analysis, and writing
  • Providing outreach to funders and collaborators on issues related to gender equity, work-life integration across the socioeconomic spectrum, and family-centered social policy
  • May help to coordinate and manage a project related to bringing women, peace and security (WPS) research and concepts into academia

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in public policy - specifically on issues related to gender equity, work-life integration across the socioeconomic spectrum, and family-centered social policy. Knowledge of women, peace and security (WPS) research and concepts are a plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of the funding landscape for BLL policy issues
  • Proven experience writing successful grant proposals and nurturing funder relationships
  • Excellent organizational experience to manage a team with multiple deadlines and projects
  • Proven ability to grow networks
  • Proven research, writing, and oral communication skills
