Description –

Reports to: Director, Center for Data Analysis

Job Summary: The Heritage Foundation's mission is "to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense."  Based on those principles, the main objectives of the Center for Data Analysis are to provide empirical research services to Heritage and to help build, through empirical and other research, publication, and other activities, the intellectual foundation for Heritage conservative public policies.  Consistent with the mission and those objectives, the Senior Analyst, Dynamic Modeling and Simulations engages in research, publication, modeling, database and model development and other work on an array of issues, including fiscal policy, tax policy, trade policy, and the environment.

Job Duties:

  • Engage in: (1) professional research, analysis, and writing for publication by Heritage and, as appropriate, others; (2) updates, documentation, development and maintenance of models and databases; and (3) representation of Heritage in many settings, including public functions, professional conferences, and legislative hearings and meetings.
  • Work with others in a collaborative manner across Heritage and in cooperating organizations, including Heritage Action for America, to achieve Heritage objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with staff of Heritage and cooperating organizations, the general public, print, mass media, and, as appropriate government officials.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of the Center for Data Analysis.

Skill Factors:


Graduate degree in economics (PhD preferred) with a demonstrated background in empirical analysis or equivalent professional experience.


5 or more years in applied economic analysis.


Excellent preparation and interpretation of technical documents     accompanying policy and database models.


Strong understanding of econometric modeling principles and fluency in statistical computing, including ability to model using structured programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, Stata, or R.

Understand and support the Heritage mission and vision for America, and the department's goals band objectives.
