The Australian Public Policy Research Network aims to provide opportunities for online and face-to-face exchanges for policy research analysts to promote new approaches to public policy.

Our focus is on the longer term, big-ticket issues. We aim to 'break down the silos' to foster policy that spans more than program, department, level of government, academic discipline or particular sectional interest. Australia

Egenis is the ESRC Centre for Genomics in Society: an ESRC funded centre for the study of the meaning and social implications of contemporary genomic science.

We are a broad interdisiciplinary group of researchers, based at the University of Exeter in the UK, under the directorship of Professor John Dupré.

Every application of genomics, from GM crops to human cloning, raises novel but highly contentious societal issues, and Egenis will carry out core research in the field.

We will comment on new genetic technologies and issues such as who owns genetic information, and genetic modification.

We will aim to become the pre-eminent locale for the development and dissemination of social scientific understanding of the nature and implications of genomic technoscience, and for the training of researchers in this area. UK

The Project on Defense Alternatives
The Project on Defense Alternatives seeks to adapt security policy to the challenges and opportunities of the new era. Toward this end it promotes consideration of the broadest range of defense options. Central to its mission is the development of transitional security policy serving to create conditions favorable to the advent of regional and global cooperative security. In the Project's perspective a transitional security policy would: guarantee reliable, cost-effective defense against aggression; rely on military structures that do not contribute to interstate tensions, crisis instability, or arms racing; allow for significant reductions in the level of armed forces and military spending; foster progress in arms control and in the gradual demilitarization of international relations; and, facilitate an increasing reliance on collective and global peacekeeping agencies and nonmilitary means of conflict prevention, containment, and resolution.
