Anglo-German Foundation for the Study of Industrial Society - Deutsch-Britische Stiftung Für das Studium der Industriegesellschaft "The Foundation encourages and supports socio-political research and discussion of challenges presented through the changing patterns of economic activity - not only as they confront managers, entrepreneurs and employees at the micro level, but also in their wider impact on public economic, social and environmental policy.
It aims to promote best practice in each country by providing access to information, promising outcomes, ideas and experience from the other.
Its work is of particular value to those active in industry and commerce, in the development and implementation of public policy, in action-orientated research, in NGOs and the media."

It has been part of a worldwide movement towards free markets and free trade. Centre for Enterprise Formed in 1997, our knowledge and expertise comes from a combination of thinking and doing. We have focused on creating value through researching and developing innovative approaches to meet enterprise and skills needs. More recently we have have begun to engage with a wider audience of stakeholders to share our experiences and contribute to emerging policy and practice discussions. Our core competency is at the interface of four related worlds. These are: the world of the small business; the world of the individual in the workplace (especially the owner or manager); the world of the policymaker; and the world of those developing delivery practices. The closer our work takes us to the cross-over between all four worlds, the closer we are to delivering to our strength.

Institute for the Study of Civil Society "The underlying purpose of CIVITAS is to deepen public understanding of the legal, institutional and moral framework that makes a free and democratic society possible. In particular, the goal of our studies is a better division of responsibilities between government and civil society. The term civil society is intended to emphasise that in social affairs the alternatives to government are not exhausted by commercial services alone. There are also mutual, church and charitable organisations, quite apart from the informal support of neighbours and within the family. The Institute's research programme focuses on four areas: health, welfare, education and the family, each underpinned by a single unifying theme: deepening public understanding of the institutions, beliefs and values which are fundamental to a free and democratic society."

Our focus is on policy development, identifying the practical actions that can be taken in order to achieve certain ends.
