The NHS Confederation is the only membership body that brings together and speaks on behalf of all organisations that plan, commission and provide NHS services. Our members are drawn from every part of the health and care system and join 560+ organisations connected to the NHS Confederation.

Our work is focused on supporting our members to deliver for patients and local communities. We do this by providing practical support on the areas that matter most to our members; by influencing the major issues affecting members and their local partners; and by representing our members’ views at the highest levels.

The role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive you will lead the organisation’s membership and policy functions; supporting, engaging and representing members in the development and implementation of health policy in England. Working closely with our members to understand their priorities, you will lead policy and influencing programmes across the health and social care and wider public sector.

As a member of the NHS Confederation’s senior management team you will provide leadership within the Group and play a key role in developing the corporate strategy for the organisation in addition to developing and implementing annual plans for the membership and policy functions.

The person

As an experienced senior manager you will have established relationships with some of the key players in the health system. You will be a senior professional with an in-depth understanding of the political environment and health and care policy. You will be a strategic thinker with high analytical skills that deliver insight. You will have a genuine interest in the leadership and development of your team.

Secondments from the NHS or Government bodies will be considered.
